Hi, Debajyoti –
Thanks for your post about social media ROI. In the end, that’s the only truly important thing — ROI. If you’re not measuring social media on an ROI basis, you’re just wasting your time.
If you or any of your readers would like to download a white paper I’ve written called “11 Ways to Measure Social Media” you can do so here:

I hope you find it useful.

Hi Jamie,
Thank you for your comment. Yes I agree with you that if we can’t measure the social media ROI the right way, it’s a waste of time. Social Media does not happen by magic. I’ll definitely check your white paper. I am sharing some of my personal thoughts on how to measure the social media ROI in simple ways.
1) Define what is your Business Goal (Product/service/marketing/sales)
2) Market Segmentation – Know who your customers are
3) Define the right social media campaign – Define messages, define the tone, Define the formats, Define the degree of virality, pick up the influencer, define budget
4) Select the right social media (Blog/webinar/Facebook/Twitter/Wiki/Forums/Slideshare/LinkedIn etc)
5) Allocate Resources
6) Measure the results
- by traffic ( number of views, number of returning visitors, drop rate, user location, time spent on site etc)
- By branding ( number of external links, number of social conversations, number of active community users etc)
- By customer satisfaction (repeat sales, number of interested customers, number of user feedbacks, revenue generated before and after campaign)
