Web strategy – What calls to action are useful for a website to get more leads?

Every website has it’s own call to action. But the question that confuses many webmasters is ” What calls to action are useful for a website to get more leads?”  Well, first of all, let me explain what ‘calls to action’ is. Calls to action is the ultimate job done  you want your audience to do while browsing your website. This is a simple web strategy. Here I am considering 3 types of websites.

1) Service website – the websites who provide various services such as SEO, SMO, content writing, Web development, Web design, Printing etc. It can be any other service too.

2) Product website – the websites who offer products on their website. These might be online e commerce website, software product website or any other traditional offline product website.

3) Publishing website- the websites who publish relevant information to their specific niche.

Now I am coming to the calls to action for all these websites. Calls to action means engaging your audience to do a particular action before leaving your website. Common actions are registrations or click-n-buy

So for 1) Service websites, the leads are the prime focus. To get leads, you must be providing a contact details on your site. Now question is which one is better? An email id or a contact form? The answer is: contact form is the best way of contact for service websites. It is easy to use and your audience can post their requirement in a faster way. People are lazy to open up their email client and to send mails but if you have a unified contact form all over your site you’ll not miss a single lead. As a plus, you can place your email id or phone number with the contact form.

For 2) product websites, a prominent unified ‘download now’ button or ‘buy now’ button or ‘add to cart’ button is necessary along with the contact form.

For 3) content publishing websites, a ‘subscribe to RSS feed’ is very necessary. The feed must be burnt by Feedburner so that all your feed audiences are redirected to that specific feed page only. In this way you will not miss a single subscriber. Also those who are in online ad revenue program, they should blend their ads in content area with good white space and with different variation in size. This will increase your click through rate (CTR). You can always keep a feedback form or guest book for your users.

These calls to action help in SEO a lot. As you might know that there are three steps of SEO landing pages – 1) confirm the search (top left corner), 2) engage the reader, and 3) call to action. So your call to action is very important to get more leads. For engaging the readers, you should always offer something of value such as interesting unique content or free service or trial product as your customer lock-in strategy.
