joomla logo Joomla or Wordpress? Which one is better?Joomla or wordpress? It is a big question of all time. Both Joomla and WordPress are very good open source content management system with lot of fantastic features. But what I have found from my experience that if you are not an expert and if you want to set up your website or blog very quickly then you should opt for WordPress rather than Joomla. WordPress is easy to install and once you have understood, you feel very comfortable using the WordPress admin panel.

WordPress is mostly based on blogging structure (similar to blogger platform) where as Joomla is mostly based on website structure.  I have found WordPress more flexible but if you want to set up a big website with lots of structured categories, then Joomla is good enough to start.

As far as SEO is concerned, WordPress and Joomla both are good and you can do lots of search engine optimization work in both the CMS but again WordPress SEO is easier than Joomla since there are lots of available plugins for wordpress. For Joomla, you need to search correct extensions/modules. From Google‘s point of view there is no discrimination in SEO aspect for both the CMS. Well optimized Joomla site or wordpress site both can rank very well in Google SERP. But wordpress is better handling canonical urls than Joomla.

Adsense integration and Ad rotation are easier in WordPress than Joomla. Also debugging WordPress is easier than Joomla. WordPress has more flexibility in choosing free templates where as templates are limited in Joomla. But both the CMS have their own huge communities who love them and this debate will go on.

So ultimate conclusion is what exactly you need and how much confident you are in continuing and improving your website in long run. Choose your open source CMS accordingly.

The platform which you should use for your website should directly depend on what kind of site you are making. If you are making a blog then WordPress is perfect while for a business site you should use Joomla

Thanks Netchunks for your comment. I am afraid that I can’t agree with you that WordPress is perfect for only blog. Many big websites use WordPress now a days. And this does not mean that for business sites you should go with Joomla. Both are good at their own domains. It depends on the choice of the user and on extended functionalities that you want to implement on your site for long run.

I see you got some interesting points covered in here.
I’ve searched this topic a lot and reached a verdict that WordPress in it’s latest version 3.0 is a winner in many aspects as you can see in this article,
